Firefox bookmarks lost under Windows 10 - 08/2020✯
The latest Firefox update causes all bookmarks to be lost
Actually, this update creates a new empty Firefox profile, so you need to reimport your bookmarks into this new profile.
Verification
- Check if this is the correct bug: open your Windows Explorer and go to
Users/<your-uca-login>, there is a hidden folder named AppData - If you cannot see hidden files -> here
- Continue exploring in
AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles - If you have two profiles, this is likely the bug in question: the one with the
-releaseextension is the new empty profile, the one without this extension is your old profile containing the bookmarks - Note: Profile folder names vary from one computer to another.

Resolution
- Reimport your bookmarks from your old profile
- Open Firefox, press
Ctrl+Shift+Bto open the bookmarks manager (or click the menu at the top right, thenLibrary,Bookmarks, then at the bottomShow All Bookmarks). The bookmarks library opens. - Click
Import and BackupthenRestorethenChoose Fileand navigate to your old profile (without the release extension) thenbookmarkbackups/Users/<your-uca-login>/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/uicu74sy.default/bookmarkbackups - You will find Firefox’s automatic backups in your old profile
- Select the most recent one and confirm
- Restart Firefox
