OpenCloud Sync Client✯

OpenCloud uses a dedicated sync client: the ownCloud client is not compatible and will not be retained after the migration. If you were using the ownCloud client on your workstation, you must install the OpenCloud client and configure synchronization with the new server.

Installation✯

The OpenCloud Desktop client is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The official documentation is available here: docs.opencloud.eu — OpenCloud Desktop Client

Install the application from the Microsoft Store: OpenCloud on the Microsoft Store

Click Install; the application will appear in your Start menu.

Download the .pkg package from the official releases page: OpenCloud Desktop Releases on GitHub

Double-click the downloaded .pkg file and follow the installation assistant.

The client is distributed as an AppImage: download the latest version from OpenCloud Desktop Releases on GitHub

It is recommended to install AppImageLauncher to integrate the AppImage into the system (menu, updates).

Make the file executable and then launch it:

chmod +x OpenCloud.AppImage
./OpenCloud.AppImage

Mobile client

OpenCloud applications are also available for Android and iOS; search for "OpenCloud" in your app store.

Configuration (first connection)✯

  1. Launch the OpenCloud application.
  2. Click Add account (or Log in).
  3. Enter the server address: https://cloud.isima.fr
  4. The client opens your browser for authentication: log in with your ISIMA credentials (SSO, as on the web).
  5. Authorize the application, then return to the client.
  6. Choose the local synchronization folder and, if desired, use selective synchronization to sync only certain folders.

Multiple accounts

The client supports multiple accounts (e.g., a personal account and a service account), each with its own local folder.

Before deleting the ownCloud client

Note the location of your current sync folder (~/ownCloud or C:\users\<login>\ownCloud): after installing the OpenCloud client, choose the same location to restore your files without duplication, or a new empty folder if you prefer a clean start.

After migration✯

  • your personal files and project spaces are already on cloud.isima.fr
  • your old ownCloud public links are automatically redirected
  • owncloud.isima.fr remains accessible in read-only mode (archive)
  • your shared directory (Linux personal space) remains accessible via homeweb.isima.fr and network shares — see Personal space (~/shared)
