Mail ISIMA / LIMOS

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to consult the documentation below to discover and familiarize yourself with the new Webmail.

Let's take a look at what the ISIMA/LIMOS mail server has to offer, what its features are, how to use it and how to customize your personal space on it. But first, some context...

Context - Global Overview

ISIMA and LIMOS staff have 3 email addresses:

  • an address @isima.fr
  • an address @limos.fr
  • an address @uca.fr (for staff working at the university): Reminder: This mail account is not managed by the ISIMA IT team, but by the central IT services of the university

It is important to understand here that your @isima.fr and @limos.fr addresses correspond to the same mailbox. The aim is to give staff the ability to communicate with the identity they choose, depending on their teaching or research activities.

Whether you receive mail on myaddress@isima.fr or myaddress@limos.fr, it will arrive in the same mailbox. These are simply two identities for a single mailbox with which you can communicate.

Aliases

There are a number of functional addresses, aliases or mailing lists: for the registrar's office, secretariat, associations, classes, groups, teachers, etc. It is possible to add new legitimate and relevant addresses on request.

"Lifetime" email address for students via ANELIS

For an email address that will follow you after you leave the school, see the Anelis association.

Email Clients - Desktop Application

It is recommended to use an email client to retrieve your emails when you are at your workstation. This is all the more recommended when you use several email addresses.

RECOMMENDED

Although any client can work with the mail service, it should be noted that the best supported client is Mozilla Thunderbird.

You will find documentation for each of these clients, including mobile configuration of your mail. Here is the list of documented clients:

Mail client configuration settings

Most mail clients are able to automatically configure your mail account once you have entered your email address and password (Thunderbird, Mail(iOS), FairEmail...). However, some are not. Here, if necessary, are the settings to enter in your mail clients to configure your mailbox:

Receiving:

  • Server: imap.limos.fr (same for isima.fr addresses)
  • Protocol: IMAP
  • Encryption: SSL
  • Port: 993
  • Password: PLAIN (not always required)

Sending:

  • Server: smtp.limos.fr (same for isima.fr addresses)
  • Protocol: SMTP (Submission)
  • Encryption: STARTTLS (TLS)
  • Port: 587
  • Password: PLAIN (not always required)

Open-Xchange - Webmail
