Hybrid Courses

Please read this page in its entirety before the start of your courses

Each classroom (in buildings A and B, not the common area) is equipped with:

  • a fixed "prof" PC connected to the student network
  • a network port identified as INVITE (formerly EDUSPOT) to allow you to connect via Ethernet from your personal laptop. See below for more details

Most rooms are equipped with a projector, with HDMI and VGA inputs for most, and at minimum VGA.

  • The prof PC is connected to the projector.
  • If your personal machine does not have HDMI or VGA video outputs, you can borrow adapters from the CRI (offices A109 and A115).

Prof PCs

Each classroom is equipped with a "prof" PC.

  • In rooms without student machines, the only machine is the prof PC. This machine is connected to the projector.
  • In computer labs with fixed PCs, the prof PC is identified by the "PC PROF" label. This machine is connected to the projector.
  • In Tx rooms, the "prof" PC is identified by the "PC PROF" label. This is the only fixed PC in the room. This machine is connected to the projector.
  • Laptops can be borrowed from the CRI in A109 for rooms in the common area.

Each "prof" PC is equipped with the following software:

  • Acrobat Reader
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Office 2016
  • LibreOffice 6
  • VLC
  • Xournal++
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Wacom Driver (for connecting a Wacom tablet)

You must use your UCA credentials to log in to the "prof" PC. Warning: For PCs in rooms A002 and amphi Garcia, the prof PC is not connected to the student network, and you cannot log in with your UCA credentials. Generic Windows login credentials can be found in the email titled "ADDENDUM organization of hybrid courses". Remember to log out at the end of the course.

In Linux/Windows rooms A112 and A204, make sure to boot the machine into Windows to access the above software (machines boot into Linux by default). When starting the PC, pay attention to the menu that allows you to choose between Ubuntu and Windows 10 (menu entries are named as such).

Warning:

  • The first login may take some time (several minutes)

Connections to Educational Servers

You can use Guacamole https://guacamole.isima.fr to connect to ISIMA's educational servers (Linux: ada and turing, Windows: tse1).

Common Area

Laptop computers for professors are available from the IT team in A109. Please come the day before before 5:30 PM if you need a machine for the next day at 8:00 AM.

Two options:

  • Bring your personal machine to the classroom and, if needed, borrow small equipment (webcam/speakerphone/tablet) from A109
  • Borrow a laptop-type "prof" PC from the CRI in A109

INVITE Network

Some rooms have a wall network port identified as INVITE (some ports are still labeled EDUSPOT even though they are part of the INVITE network; relabeling is in progress). This port allows you to have a wired internet connection from your personal machine.

To use it:

  • plug the Ethernet cable into your machine
  • browse

If you do not immediately get network access, follow these steps (you may need to repeat this process when reconnecting your machine in your ISIMA/LIMOS office):

  • On Windows:

  • open a command prompt by pressing the Windows key + R

  • type cmd then press Enter
  • enter the command ipconfig /release
  • enter the command ipconfig /renew

  • On macOS:

  • go to Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network

  • in the left list, select the network service that needs an IP address renewed
  • click Advanced, then TCP/IP, then Renew DHCP Lease

  • On Linux:

  • in a terminal, enter the command sudo dhclient -r && sudo dhclient

Small Equipment (webcams/speakerphones/tablets/adapters/network cables)

Stock of this equipment is very limited. Please follow these rules:

  • if you have a webcam in your office, you must bring it to the classrooms.
  • webcams/speakerphones/tablets can be borrowed from the CRI in office A109.
  • make sure to return borrowed equipment to A109 at the end of your class to avoid inconveniencing other teachers and their students.

More information here

Other small equipment has been ordered, and delivery times may be extended due to the health situation.

Personal Machines

If you are using your personal machine, make sure to:

  • have Microsoft Teams installed
  • have the Wacom driver installed (if you want to use a tablet): available here
  • have activated your Office 365 account and know the password (this may not be the same as your UCA password)
  • use the wall network port identified as INVITE for internet access. More info or the EDUROAM WiFi for rooms in the common area.
