Managing Population Groups✯
Viewing a Group✯
By clicking on a group, you can access information specific to that group (its name, description, etc.), as well as:
- direct member users: those directly registered in this group, here 0
- member users: direct members + members of child groups, grandchild groups, etc., here 97
- direct member groups: direct child groups (not grandchild groups), here 5
- member groups: child groups and grandchild groups, etc., here 5
- direct parent groups: direct parent groups (not grandparent groups), here 1
- parent groups: direct parent groups and grandparent groups, here 6

Warning
It may happen that a group has multiple direct parents. For example, the administratifs_isima group has personnels_isima and biatss_isima as direct parents.
However, more commonly, we place certain groups as children of service groups (mail, VPN, etc.) so that members of these groups have access to these services.
Example
flowchart RL
ADMINISTRATIFS --> PERSONNEL
ADMINISTRATIFS_ISIMA --> ADMINISTRATIFS
C[...] --> ADMINISTRATIFS
APPUI_TECHNIQUE_ISIMA -.- BIATSS_ISIMA
ADMINISTRATIFS_ISIMA -.- BIATSS_ISIMA
APPUI_TECHNIQUE --> PERSONNEL
APPUI_TECHNIQUE_ISIMA --> APPUI_TECHNIQUE
A[...] --> APPUI_TECHNIQUE
B[...] --> APPUI_TECHNIQUE
In this example, we see that the ADMINISTRATIFS_ISIMA and APPUI_TECHNIQUE_ISIMA groups are direct children of ADMINISTRATIFS and APPUI_TECHNIQUE respectively, but also direct children of BIATSS_ISIMA.
Group Actions✯
At the top left, you will find several action buttons for the group:

- The eye icon allows access to the group management screen (member users & groups, parent groups, etc.), the screen you arrive at when clicking on the group name.
- The plane icon allows sending an email to the mailing list associated with the group.
- The group of people icon allows switching to the management screen of the associated mailing list.
Administration Rights✯
Depending on your profile (administrative staff, researcher, teacher, at ISIMA or LIMOS), you will have different group management rights.
There are 4 roles:
- ROLE_STAFF_RESEARCH for LIMOS administrative staff
- ROLE_RESEARCHER for LIMOS researchers
- ROLE_STAFF_TEACHING for ISIMA administrative staff
- ROLE_TEACHER for ISIMA teachers
The ROLE_STAFF_RESEARCH role allows adding a user to a group exclusively linked to research (doctorants, chercheurs, etc.). The association with the group is done directly.
The ROLE_RESEARCHER role allows adding a user to only one group contributeurs_limos to grant access to part of the LIMOS infrastructure or certain services. A request is sent to the IT team, which will approve or reject it.
The ROLE_STAFF_TEACHING role allows adding a user to a group exclusively linked to teaching (enseignants_externes, enseignants_isima, contributeurs_isima). The association with the group is done directly.
The ROLE_TEACHER role allows adding a user to a group exclusively linked to teaching (enseignants_externes, contributeurs_isima). The association with the group is done directly.
Rights are cumulative. A teacher-researcher will have both the ROLE_RESEARCHER and ROLE_TEACHER roles.
Who can typically modify a group?
With the exception of the groups named above, each group has a manager (and potentially a contact) who are the group owners and can add or remove users.

Some groups do not allow direct addition of users or groups. These are:
- either "intermediary" groups (i.e., they aim to federate other child groups) (e.g.,
fise1which containsfise1_g1,fise1_g2...) Filling the child groups necessarily fills the intermediary groups - or "scripted" groups (i.e., they are automatically and regularly filled by scheduled scripts)
Synchronization time
Any modification to a group/mailing list takes effect approximately 15 minutes after validation.
Scripted mailing lists are represented by a specific color in mailing list graphs.
Administration rights are assigned by the IT service
Only the IT service can assign roles, managers, and contacts for a group. If you believe you need additional rights, please contact the IT service.
